Question: I am a father whose son has an injury of the upper humeral break two years ago, and he has had grafting to repair the entrapped nerve. As a result this injury has caused the motor nerves has not responded, therefore he still continues to have nerve palsy. Is their any cutting edge treatment/repair to alter this apparent damage to this 14 year old kids arm? email: YYYY@YYYY

Brief Answer:
Nest option would be tendon transfers.

Detailed Answer:
Hi , I am Dr Gopal.Goel, Orthopedic surgeon.
Your son probably had a radial nerve injury entrapped at fracture site in upper humerus 2/years back.He has no motor recovery.
In my opinion ,after two years of injury, there is virtually no chance of any motor recovery since the remaining part of nerve and motor end plates degenerate in this period. Only and best option is to go for tendon transfers in hand
After tendon transfers again lot of physiotherapy is required and person regains nearly normal function in hand.
Lot of research is going on about stem cell therapy in nerve regeneration but no conclusive results as yet.
