Question: my wife had cataract surgery yesterday morning and is complaining about her forehead being numb and her eyebrow is much higher than the non operative eye. at the follow up appt this morning she saw one of the optometrists in the ophalmologist office and told her about it and she seemed kind of concerned but said to just wait a couple of days and see what happens, after coming home and googling it we are getting a little more worried about it. what do you think

Brief Answer:
nerve injury or inflammatiopn?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for choosing HCM for query,
The numbness can either be because of infection or mild injury to some nerve or due to the after effects of anaesthesia given.
I would suggest you to wait for next 24 hours ,If things din't settle down by that time then a neurology consultation should be done and physical examination of motor supply of forehead nerves should be done.A swab from eye should be taken for detecting bacterial infection.
However i would suggest you to ask you opthalmologist to give high dose methyl prednisolone about 16 mg twice daily if things are not settled in next 24 hours,Before you can consult a neurologist.
