What Causes Severe Headache After Tonsillectomy And Septoplasty?

My husband is suffering from severe headaches after a tonsillectomy and septoplasty/turboplasty were done last August. We suspect nerve damage. He is on nerve blocking medicines and pain medicines but is still having trouble. Is there anything else we can do?

Hello!

Welcome on Healthcaremagic!

Nerve damage is a common adverse effect of these types of surgery.

In such case an antiepileptic drug would be helpful, including carbamazepine, phenytoin or valproate.

Anyway, if the problem persists, infiltration of the nerve could be needed.

You should discuss with a neurologist on the above issues.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!
Kind regards, Dr. Aida
