Brief Answer:
No worries, Continue same Treatment
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking!
Oral ulcers and blisters and difficulty in feeding are quite common and classic presentation of Ear infections. As she has been assessed in ER so yes it is the most likely presentation. Such oral ulcers and temperature and otorhinolaryngologic complains also present in
Measles but there is a characteristic
rash on the body and koplik's spot. That usually self resolves.
So my advice is keep the medicine use compliant. As your daughter is 18 lbs and equivalent 8.156 kg. She can take 10 mg per kg
ibuprofen 6 hourly maximum. That is 80 mg ibuprofen in one dose and 240 mg in one day and no more than that.
Tylenol she can take from 10-15 mg per kg and maximum 5 times in a day.
And no the odds for coxscakie virus are less. It could be Measles virus and for that nothing is advised except some prophylactic
vitamin A drops 200,000 IU on day one, two and 14 to be on the safer road.
Rest assured, your granddaughter will be fine and healthy soon.Just keep her fluids and diet focussed and don't let her dehydrate. Continue the same treatment as prescribed by doctor. If the problem persists seek the paediatrician for further management.
Take care of your granddaughter and yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
may the odds be ever in your favour.
