Suggest Treatment For Pain After Shoulder Replacement Surgery
Question: After having four surgeries on my right shoulder I had a reverse shoulder replacement performed 20 months ago. My shoulder has been getting in more pain and recently I have started getting large pockets of fluid that build up under the skin. This has happened twice and they are about the size of a golf ball. After about a week the swelling goes down but I get bruising along my bicep area and chest.
What is the swelling, what causes it, and how can it be prevented?

Answers for Dr. Sharma: 1) yes I have pain in shoulder most of 24/7. My shoulder is swollen. I do not have one of those large hard fluid build-up. I have had 2 of those. No fluid from scare. The fluid build up drains down in my arm under the shin. I have been running elevated temperature since XXXXXXX 5th and was in the hospital XXXXXXX 20-Jan 30, for Bronchial infection. I am not a Diabetic. The following test have been run, xrays, catscan, bone scan. Immediately after bone scan, ortho Phy Assistant and tech told me that the northwest screw holding the socket was loose. The report did not say anything about a loose screw. All scans were read as not problem with the hardware. Surgery Jun 25, 2013. When the doctor woke me, my forearm area felt like an ARMY tank was parked on it. Nerve/spine doctor just had an MRI run on my neck. I had a fusion at C6/7 a few years ago.
Brief Answer:
You need to get some blood test
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case and I think you are having infection in shoulder. To confirm this you will need few blood investigations.
1.ESR
2.CRP
3.WBC
These tests will tell us if there is any infection is there. If there is infection then you might need to take antibiotics and even need a surgery to drain this fluid. You should not delay these tests.Chances of implant loosening are high if ignored. Let me know if you want to ask any other questions.
Thanks
