Suggest Treatment For Pain And Numbness In Thumb After Wrist Injury
Question: I believe i injured my wrist with free weights in a training session. Now for days, my wrist hurts in any type of shearing motion (pickihng up things out of the fridge etc or even turning a dead bolt on the door) Related problem i have tingling and a bit of numbness on the same thumb pad near said wrist. I can poke my palm near my thumb/index finger and it feels like a funny bone making the thumb tingle more. The wrist joint pops and cracks occasionally and feels odd. It however does not hurt unless i try to use it in certain ways.
Brief Answer:
It can be most likely Tendinosis
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely due to tendinosis (De quervain tendinosis). But better to have a local examination by Orthopaedician and have an X ray to rule out any bony injuries.
You should rest the thumb in splint or brace. You can take NSAIDs like Ibuprofen or Diclofenac. Ice pack application also is good. Avoid activities causing pain. If there is no improvement then you may need local corticosteroid injection like triamcinolone.
Let me know if anything not clear.
I am happy to help you.
Thanks.
