Suggest Treatment For Pain And Swelling In Hand And Wrist While On Prednisone

Question: have severe hand and wrist pain, swelling of the hand and wrist. Have a high playtlet count (sp). I have a copy of my blood work as of Dec 23rd 2015. Am on 20gm of prednisone a day and it keeps the pain and swelling down.

I read your question and i understand your concern. painful and swollen wrist joint responding to anti inflammatory effects of prednisone at age of 85 are likely age related arthralgia called osteosrthritis. However other causes should be evaluated by work up and ruled out.

Regarding work up and raised platelets, if platelets not significantly high ( twice normal range) then no worries. For your peace of mind, you can upload the report and i can have a look to address that for you.
