Is Replacement Of Joint The Only Cure For Rheumatoid Arthritis?

Hello doctor, Greetings! I am from India. I am 57 years old and I am suffering from Rheumatoid arthritis for the past 3 years. My left knee was operated due to rheumatoid and doctors also told that there is no cure for the disease and the only remedy is operating and replacing the joints. In recent day I do get joint pains and disappears after applying oils on the joints. Is there any remedy for Rheumatoid ?

Hi,

The purpose of joint replacement in rheumatoid arthritis is not to cure the disease but to restore the function of the affected joint that is been impaired by pain and deformity.

As pain is a subjective finding you can postpone the surgery till the time you can bear the pain, or the drugs you are taking are effective in reducing it without causing severe side effects. If deformity is there, it is better to get the replacement done as soon as possible as delaying it may results in muscular weakness and other secondary problems.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
