Suggest Treatment For Pain And Swelling On The Hand Joints

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Jul 2015
Question: For 3 months, I have been experiencing pain and swelling of my hand joints. Also pain in my neck, shoulders, clavicle area, upper arms and left hip. I recently saw a rheumatologist, who ordered several labs/X-rays testing for inflammation, RA, and Lupus. All tests have come back negative except my ESR level is elevated (39) and a very slight elevation in my granulocytes. All other routine lab values are normal. What could this mean? I have been on prednisone 5mg for 3 months and that is the only medication that alleviates my pain. I'm a 35 y/o female, no health issues, hx of TLH with BSO.

Possibilities of seronegetive rheumatoid arthritis or reactive arthritis.

Hi
Thanks for your query

I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. There can be possiblity of seronegetive rheumatoid arthritis and reactive arthritis. You are likely to get benefitted by steroids( prednisolon, triamcilone injection) and disease modifying agents used in treatment of rheumatoid arthritis such as methotrexate. You are advised to be under treatment of rheumatologist. You can discuss with your doctor about it.
What is meaning of hx of HTL with BSO ?

Total laparoscopic hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy....I didn't know if my history of this would play any role as I am on hormone replacement therapy.
