Suggest Treatment For Pain In Elbow And Ankle After Recovering From Ruptured Tendon

Question: I saw a foot and ankle doctor today, and I have recovered from a torn tendon in my ankle. However, I informed him of the pain in my elbow, which after pressing and finding it painful, he recommended that I purchase a wrist brace to immobilize my right arm. I do a lot of computer-related work, and wonder if this brace will interfere with my work. He also provided a referral to a hand doctor. Is there a particular brace I should look for in the orthopedic dept. of our local Rexall Pharmacy? I only have pain if I press the area.
Brief Answer:
Tendonitis likely.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The pain that you have is likely to be due to tendonitis. Excessive computer work and wrong positioning of the keyboard will worsen the pain. You can get an elastic wrist brace and elbow brace for support. Please ask for tennis elbow brace.
Do take a mild pain killer and a muscle relaxant orally for relief. Doing a hot compress will also help.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Wishing you good health.

Dr. Tayal,
I could not ask a follow-up question immediately, since I was traveling for the holidays. I have been diagnosed with golfer's elbow--medial epicondylitis, which is tendinosis of the medial epicondyle of the elbow, not tennis elbow.
I have two follow-up questions:
There are many different types of elbow braces made of foam, elastic etc. You have suggested an elastic wrist brace. Can you provide a url with photos, which illustrate the type of wrist and elbow braces I should look for? If not, is there a brand name that you would recommend that I consider?
Also, do you recommend warm moist compresses or can a heating pad be used? I'd like to have as much information as possible.
Thank you for your other suggestions.
Warm regards,
XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Best brace of your size can be recommended by your physical therapist.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
For Golfer's elbow, i usually recommend a McDavid elbow support. It is better to use an elastic brace that fits snugly to give a proper support to the area.

You can use a heating pad in the area.
