Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Cheek And Jaw Despite Taking Antibiotics

default
Posted on Sat, 17 Sep 2016
Question: Hi, I've had interior mouth pain and cheek and jaw pain since March. I've had five courses of various antibiotics and two diagnoses and it hurts less but it still hurts. My PCP thinks that it may be an infection of my salivary glands and the ER doctor (I was there for something else) thought that it was an infection of the mastoid bone. I don't care which. It's not nearly as sore as it was at first but it's still always painful.

Brief Answer:
TMJ disorder

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

Based on the history provided , I believe you to suffer from TMJ disorder (temporomandibular joint disorder).

It cant be infection. If it is infection it would have progressed or could have associated toxemia induced fever and swelling in the affected part.

I suggest you to visit a Oromaxillofacial surgeon. He after clinically assessing you can order for specific diagnostic test to ascertain the diagnosis.

It is curable in early stages. Do not waste time and take antibiotics considering the only infective possibility.

Hope, I answered your query.

Wish you good health.
