Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Right Side Of Chest

default
Posted on Mon, 5 Jan 2015
Question: On my right side I have a pain. Under my right chest/pectoral one inch down from my male tit slightly to the right side and close to the bone I have a pain. It is uncomfortable. I can't figure out where it's coming from and in the past, it's come and gone, but today it's not going away. I would say the pain covers at most a square inch. It's a stabbing, nagging pain. It is not from gas, bloating or a muscle tear ( I believe). Nor is it from drinking too little water. I get relief from standing straighter, but then I feel the pain. I have not been coughing or been sick recently. The area is not hot and it's not bruised or raised in any way. I didn't hurt it from an movement or twist. Should I get an MRI ? or an X-Ray, what do you think it is ? I have not lifted weights, I just don't get what it is.

Brief Answer:
get chest x ray done first.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
In my opinion, it seems muscular pain mostly. But better to rule out lung causes like pleurisy. It is inflammation of the pleura. It can be due to
1. Pneumonia.
2. TB
3. Pleural effusion. Etc

But chances of all these are very less as you are not sick and not having any symptoms like cough, fever etc. But better to get done chest x ray to rule out all these.

If chest x ray is normal then your pain is mostly due to muscular cause only.

So better to follow these steps.
1. Avoid heavy weight lifting and strenuous exercise.
2. Avoid bad postures in sleep.
3. Take good painkiller and muscle relaxant.
4. Apply warm water pad on affected site.

If you are improving by these, then it must be muscular pain only.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.
