Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Upper Left Chest

default
Posted on Wed, 6 Sep 2017
Question: I have a small pain (maybe not even a pain more like a dullness) in my upper left chest. had it for about 7 months now and went to a doctor to see if it was my heart and he asked me does it increase in pain when I do cardio (it does not). I'm 29 and thin. He said it may be just a muscle. doesn't increase in pain and no one in my family has died of an heart attack at a younger age. I feel it on the left side an inch under my collarbone.

just wanted your insight. this was a month ago I went to him and it hasn't gotten worse but I still feel that dullness in that one area.

Brief Answer:
Not likely to be a heart-related pain!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this pain that you have reported. I have reviewed the nature and surrounding circumstances and this is not suggestive of a heart-related pain. Your worries are understandable but the cardiac pain wouldn’t be so constant and will increase with exercise. A pulled muscle is more likely as the cause than a heart disease.

I will suggest you try Tylenol/Ibuprofen for pain control. Monitor the pain and report response to these medications to me subsequently.

I hope this clarifies, helps and guides. I wish you well.
Please feel free to follow up with me if need be.
Kind regards

wait I'm confused: if it was heart related, it would or would not increase with exercise? I thought pain would increase because it's exerting more on the heart.

Brief Answer:
It would increase with exercise!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

If the pain was heart-related, it will increase with exercise. You clearly stated that this is not increased by doing cardio exercises.

I hope this clarifies your doubts. I wish you well.
