Read through your query in my opinion there can be two chances(as you have not mentioned about swelling or cavity or discolouration on the tooth)

1)dental caries on front tooth
treatment can be based on a Xray if its deep you have to undergo a Root Canal Treatment and crown.

2)gum inflammation(as you said its red on brushing)
treatment for this can be by undergoing scaling and followed by antibiotics(if infection present) and following proper oral hygiene measures like
1)brushing twice daily
2)Listerine mouthrinse(good for gum health)
3)doing salt water gargle
4)flossing

So I suggest you to meet a dentist and based on clinical presentation and xray get the appropriate treatment. Besides all these be cool and happy. Happy and cool mind can solve all problems and cure any disease.
