Suggest Treatment For Pain Under The Rib Cage

Question: I am 70 year old female, experiencing upper pain on right side just under rib cage, mostly prominent when I cough but is constant but dull, sharp or burning when I cough, this just started about a week ago.

Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
By your history and description, in my opinion you are having pleuritic pain.
Chest pain on coughing is characteristic feature of pleurisy ( inflammation of pleura ).
And the most common cause for pleurisy is pneumonia.
And diabetic patients are at risk for lung infection.
So better to get done chest x ray to rule out pneumonia.
You may need antibiotic drugs.
So first rule out pneumonia by chest x ray.
