Brief Answer:
Take her in to be seen now.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

I am concerned, from your description, about the possibility of a DVT (deep vein thrombosis). Usually when there is a clot in a deep vein, there is swelling at and blow the level of the clot.

Because DVTs can cause serious complications, I recommend you take her in to be seen in person now.

If it turns out to just be a superficial bruise, elevating, as she has been doing, is the thing to do, and moist heat can make it more comfortable.

But get it checked out, as a simple bruise usually does not cause these symptoms.

I would like to hear how she is doing after she has been evaluated.

I hope this information helps.
