Suggest Treatment For Painful Lump Above Right Ankle
Question: On Thursday after playing 9 holes of golf, walking & in shorts, a golf ball size knot appeared on my lower shin just above my right ankle. It was huge. I didn't hit it on anything, it just appeared. I took a shower and within an hour it had gone down. It's still a little painful and is just a small lump now. Any ides of what this might be? Thanks
Brief Answer:
Knot might be due to haematoma formation(collection of blood).
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
From description it seems to be soft tissue injury . Knot might be due to haematoma formation(collection of blood).
I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance.
Beside icing and elevating it, you can take anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care

Ok thanks , but what could have caused it? There was not injury involved, I didn't hit it or bump into anything.
