Suggest Treatment For Peptic Ulcer Disease
Change antacid choice, use proton pump inhibitor, see Dr , watch, no worrie
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for the query,
The pain you describe is classically for peptic ulcer disease. the manner of irradiation and getting relief with dairy products points more towards that direction.
I understand it could be frustrating that taking antacids might not have worked. It happens, and it might be worth reiterating that drugs, including antacids, might produce different results in different persons. Changing the antacid choice at some point might be helpful.
I however think a proper clinical review with your doctor s important. Peptic ulcer disease today is generally associated with an infection with Helicobacter Pylori. Eradicating this bacteria after the test by your doctor, using triple antibiotherapy might be useful. Other drugs used in managing peptic pain and ulcers like proton pump inhibitors (e.g Omeprazole or Pantoprazole 40mg once daily in empty stomach prior to breakfast) might be needed.
In case the pain persists, other causes of chest pain like lung and cardiac causes should always be put in mind. A chest X ray might help clear doubts.
Such decisions however should be taken only after a careful clinical examination has been done and if you fail to respond to other antacids, proton pump inhibitors and medication depending on the case.
For now, I think changing the antacid, adding a proton pump inhibitor (omeprazole) as you prepare to see your doctor could be reasonable starting points in my opinion.
Thanks and kind regards as I wish you the best of health. Please, I will be more than grateful to offer any help within my reach in case of need. Do not hesitate asking any follow up questions.
