Suggest Treatment For Persistent Back Pain And Dizziness

Posted on Fri, 8 Jul 2016
Question: I am a 33 year old female and I've been having back pain for about a month. At first the pain was on the right side, middle of the back like where the kidneys are located, and only at night when I was lying down. But now it's hurting during the day too and sometimes it's in my lower back. Like a burning pain and it can get pretty intense. My doctor says it's muscle pain, but it doesn't feel like it...

I've also been tired all the time in the past few months. I barely exercise anymore, no energy which is unusual since I'm very active. And I sometimes feel dizzy and lightheaded, mostly at night. I urinate frequently (have to get up many times during the night).

Thanks so much for your help!

The back pain is annoying, but I am very concerned about the fatigue/dizziness.

I am a very active person and lately I don't do any sports at all. Just too exhausted. Does any of those 2 causes would cause that? Wouldn't muscle pain have gone away after resting it?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your response.
As I said , 2 options are muscle and spine issue.
A third possibility is a urine infection.
I would suggest testing a urine routine and culture. If that's normal , go ahead with MRI spine.
And no, muscle and spine pain don't always resolve with rest. Sometimes in fact it becomes worse.
Let me know the reports.
Best of luck. Dr Mittal
