Posted on Mon, 19 Oct 2015
Question: I have noticed in the last few days that I am having spasms in my feet. Also, I have sudden onset of pain on the left back side of my head down to my shoulder. It does not last long but I cannot put my head in a downward position, I have to hold my head high in order to get the pain to stop. Should I be concerned?
I have had sensations in my left hand as if it is waking up from a sleeping episode.

Brief Answer:
Cervical spine condition should be evaluated.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your query and understand your concerns.

Possible conditions that may cause your symptoms include cervical spine diseases such cervical spondyloarthritis, herniated disc disease, blood dysbalances of electrolytes and vitamins B group.

Since symptoms are mild and not continuous, you shouldn't worry too much about.

However, in my opinion, if those symptoms become more frequent, you should plan to consult a Neurologist and have done neurologic examination.

If suspected cervical spine involvement after the examination, imaging studies of the neck are indicated as well ( x-rays, MRI ).

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.
