Suggest Treatment For Persistent Blood In Stool When Diagnosed With Hemorrhoids

Posted on Wed, 3 Aug 2016
Question: I have had hemmoriods for about 30 years. I have pain and bleeding, bright red, about three times per year, and it normally lasts from one to two weeks. I also was diagnosed with an anal fissure six years ago. Sine XXXXXXX 2016, I have been bleeding, same as ever but this is the longest it has gone on, about a month. It hurts and itches, same as thirty years ago, and I have gone from a fit 63 year old female, to 5'5" 130lbs. to 150 lbs. truly due to lack of exercise. When I began exercising, (swimming, walking about two hours a day) it coincided with the bleeding. My husband checks my anal fissure and hemmoriods, (great husband) and sees no change. I am sensitive to aspirin. Other than that, normal blood pressure, GOOD health. What could be causing this long bout of rectal bleeding? Thank you. Diane

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to Health Care Magic, I am Dr Muhammd Ahmad, I have closely read your question and I understand your concerns, I will hereby guide you regarding your health related problem.

Anal fissures are usually caused by strained bowel movement which mostly are caused by constipation or hard stools.
And hemorrhoids almost have same cause but they can also occur in over weight patients.

Your bleeding can be caused by an inflammed fissure or hemorrhoid and you can yourself differentiate between the two causes.

1) If bleeding is after bowel movements and comes along with pain, it is usually then fissure.
2) If bleeding is not really related to bowel movements...and usually is painless then its hemorrhoid most of the time.

I would suggest you to use tronolene gel or any hemorrhoidal gel to get rid of pain and inflammation.

Here is what you should do,

1) Take care of you constipation.(if you have bad constipation and need help to control it i can do that too).
2) Try not to be in position which outs pressure on the hemorrhoids like prolonged sitting straining.
3) This time it is prolonged may be because of infection, inflammation or slight worsening of hemorrhoids which might have not been detected by your husband (who i really appreciate for his care and concern in this regard.)
4) I would suggest you to visit a general surgeon if the bleeding is regular may be you need bit of intervention to control the frequency ... it doesn't necessarily need a surgery depending upon condition and severity one moght just get better by simple injection called sclerotherapy.
5) If they are infection even in that case you need a dr to prescribe antibiotics so do meet your generak surgeon soon.
6) SITS bath is also effective for hemorroids try thay too till you get appointment with general surgeon.

I hope this answered your question, if you have more feel free to ask, otherwise close the discussion and rate it.
