Suggest Treatment For Persistent Breast Itching

Posted on Fri, 12 Feb 2016
Question: Hi, my left nipple has been extremely itchy for a few weeks. Its sporatic throughout the day, yet persistent day to day. At first (2-3 weeks ago) it was once in a while. Now its very often throughout the day. It itches terribly as I'm writing this. I am a 26 Year Old Male from New York. No other symptoms that I can think of. There is a light colored formation on my nipple, and it seems that the itching is originating from that point. What can this be? I tried uploading pictures but the file format doesn't seem to be compatable. Please advise. Seems to be getting worse rather than better. I don't have a good feeling, but I want complete honesty. thank you in advance.I just uploaded a picture. If you look closely at the tip, on the right of it, (your right, my left) the color gets light --> white. Its one thing if it just felt itchy, but that white spot too? Please advise.

Brief Answer:
It might be eczema.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome.
I have gone through your query and the pictures.

Based on the information and pictures, you are likely to be suffering from eczema of the nipple. Due to constant itching and scratching, the skin becomes inflamed due to which there can be a slight color change in the area.
I would suggest you to Only wear cotton innerwear, You can apply Nipcare cream or a moisturizer over the area after cleansing it properly with warm water and savlon, you can use mild soap like dermadew, which will be helpful. Also use Benadryl syrup 2 tsp twice daily for 5 days to stop the itching.

In case there is any palpable lump under the area or pain then a direct examination is needed for proper diagnosis.
Please feel free to discuss further.

This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor.

I hope this suggestion might be of some help to you.
Take care.
