i am a 16 yr old male and i have had red dry itchy skin on either side of my genitals and i have shaved around the area to get a better look at it and it became bumpy and i have tried treating it with savlon a few times but no change it is gradually spreading and i dont know what to do
In your case, it may be contact dermatitis due to strong perfumes, deodorant, soaps, lotions, latex usually present in condoms etc. and also due to fabric softeners present in the under wear. Treatment will depend on the allergen withdrawal as well as some local anti-itch like hydrocortisone ointment. Oral antiallergics available OTC like Cetirizine or Loratadine may have to be used for moderate to severe itching.
Other common cause like jock itch or ringworm infection is due to yeast and have to be treated with local antifungal along with symptomatic treatment of itching or irritation etc. if present. In severe cases not amenable to local treatment oral anti-fungal may have to be used. Psoriasis, lichen planus, STD, genital herpes may be some of the other causes which may have to be looked for, if the symptoms are not controlled by above mentioned treatment.
