Posted on Wed, 17 Sep 2014
Question: I have persistent cough. It sounds dry but generating phlegm. It is sort of itching sensation at throat. It is going on since last 2 months. Last winter I was suffering huge cough and laryngitis. I consulted with ENT specialist and he said I have deviated nasal septum and may be because of that this type of symptoms appearing.
My cough is not massive. But it is irritating me.
I am out of XXXXXXX in Kazakhstan, in this country proper treatment is not available. What to do to mitigate it?

Dear Friend .
There are 2 possibilities:
1. Smoker's cough.
2. Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease.

I advise you following:
1. To take a combination of Pantoprazole and Domperidone once a day.
2. To take an anti allergic like Levocetrizine once a day.
.Don't ever Revert back to smoking.
Start on this and revert back after 15 days.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Friend.
No this is not a symptom of HIV.
Still if you had any high risk exposure simply get tested and be sure.
However these symptoms are not related to HIV.
Start on the medicines I have advice you. Take for 15 days and in the meanwhile get HIV test done and revert back after 15 days. Further treatment we would discuss then.
Also I forgot to mention an important thing. Do steam inhalation 3 times a day regularly. This would help you very much.
If you have any further query please ask me.

Can HIV spread through deep kissing?
I just observed a white spot on my left tonsil. Is it pus?

Can persistency of my symptoms related to early HIV infection?

Brief Answer:
Detail Follows.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Friend.
Yes HIV can spread through kissing specially when there is a cut on mucous membrane.
In initial phases of HIV infection it is difficult to comment on the symptoms as the symptoms are non specific.
That's why I am saying that get tested and be sure.
The white spot on your tonsil can be a collection of pus or it can be a collection of white food particles due to Gastro Esophageal reflux disease.
If you have any fever or pain in throat you need to see a specialist. If its asymptomatic mouth wash with Chlorohexidine.
If you have any further query please ask me.

Hi Doctor,
I checked and found the mentioned medicines not available in Kazakhstan. I will consult with ENT specialist in XXXXXXX at the end of Sept, as I am going there.

I started taking steam as well as gargling with salty water. The cough is little less now. It is dry at night time and wet phlegm at day time. I did a complete blood test yesterday and report shows slight high Eosinophil=5.7. Some lab its showing maximum limit of eosinophil is 6, here its mentioned 5.
I am attaching the report for your reference. It is in Russian, but from abbreviation you can understand it.
Is there any indication of HIV infection? What do you suggest about my problem?
