Suggest Treatment For Persistent Dizziness And Vetigo

Posted on Mon, 18 Jul 2016
Question: My dad keeps getting dizziness once in 3 months, he is 72 years old. We did angiogram fearing any cardiac trouble, but it was normal. His BP seems normal during these episodes but he feels a sense of vertigo. He is not diabletic and has normal blood pressure. He takes multiple medications as he had a byepass graft replacement 15 years back. He is healthy, walks well and has no issues apart from this? Could the reason be an ear infection of some sort or is this linked to anything else serious?

Brief Answer:
need further investigations as well as clinical evaluation..

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX Welcome to HCM..

I've gone through your query and understand your concern for your father..

First of all, 72/Male with a history of post bypass graft, with occasional dizziness and vertigo, yes it's good that you've checked blood pressure and it's good to know that there's no diabetes also..

However since he takes multiple medications already, perhaps it's a good time to visit his cardiologist for a revision his current requirement among those list of medications and may be optimize some of their dosage also..

Please share the reports of his detailed investigations if done lately and if it's not done for a while please get a fresh set CBC, Electrolytes (specially sodium, potassium and calcium) along with renal profile ..

Yes, I do agree with the ENT specialist that dizziness and vertigo on certain positional variation can be due to BPPV, so please follow those advises as he'd already suggested along with these I've listed above..however it's not correlating with ear infection as per this history..

Let me know if there's any further queries..

Take Care
Kind Regards
