Question: I have been having a scratchy throat and stuffed, pounding headache for two days but don't feel otherwise ill. What might be the problem?

Hi and thanks for the query,

I feel the medication you have been taking is appropriate. Its probably and inflammation of your throat and Ibuprofen might be ok. It might be interesting to know the amount of Ibuprofen you are taking. Taking 1800mg in divided doses daily for about three days should be fine, or you could add Acetaminophen to the medication for about three days too, to help in headache.

Drinking warm drinks like tea and avoiding cold stuff could be helpful. In case the symptoms beyond a week, you will have to see a doctor.

Any family history of hypertension? If yes, it might be worth getting your blood pressure controlled. A raised blood pressure could manifest itself in the form of headaches.
