Suggest Treatment For Persistent Nausea, Diarrhea And Hot Flashes In An Elderly Person

Question: I am a 59 year old female and I have been having weak spells including frequent heart burn, severe hot flashes, nausea and diarrhea. A few weeks ago I had a car accident when I passed out while driving. It was just for a second but long enough to wreck. The hospital said I had very low potassium. I have also had my gall bladder out and am wondering if it could be "gastric dumping" with pancreas issues.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. With history of cholecystectomy, road traffic accident recently , hypokalemia , fatigue and weakness is inevitable. As far as bowel discomfort, heart burn and nausea with diarrhea is more of an irritable bowel syndrome flare than gastric dumping with pancreas involvement as that presentation is totally different.

All you need is some good electrolytes replacement to compensate for diarrhea as well as low potassium, BRAT diet ( banana rice apple sauce toast) guava, green tea, pomegranate juices etc.

Also i would suggest eat small frequent meals, avoid dairy products, spices, alcohol, beer, coffee, tea, chocolates, cheese etc. With gall bladder out bowel cant tolerate more food at a time, and this recent trauma and stress gave it a flare.

Nutshell nothing to worry about, as it is easily manageable. Just do as directed and hope for the best.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Khan
