Suggest Treatment For Pimple Near The Ear Canal And Preauricular Node Swelling

Question: I have what feels like a pimple on my concha, but can't see it because of location. I was told it looked slightly inflamed and is sore. I also have non painful, pretty solid preauricular node swelling. I have trouble judging if it is moveable I saw an urgent care practitioner and he said to use antibiotic ointment. I am seeing no results after 4 days and am somewhat concerned since I am leaving on vacation

I do not have a picture
Brief Answer:

Hello again.
Based on the information you provided, it most likely appears to be staphylococcal boil infection especially with the pre auricular node swelling. The lymph node enlargement associated with such infections is usually tender but in early stages, it can be rather painless. I would suggest you get it examined. Most likely antibiotics like cloxacillin or augmentine would be advised for a week. Most likely , it would resolve. If the lymph node and the pimple persist despite treatment then a biopsy can be indicated to determine the true nature of the lesion.

I have tried to take a picture, but the inflamed area is where my camera cannot take a picture. The Urgent care doctor said it is inflamed. My question basically is should the antibiotic ointment have resolved the problem yet
Brief Answer:

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
It should have improved by now if the lesion/pimple was minor. If it has persisted then oral medication would be the better alternative.
Let me know if you have any query
