doctor
Answered by Dr. Lohit K (6 hours later)
Brief Answer:
adapalene cream. face wash. avoid dust exposure.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I went through the query and understood your concern.

The postmenopausal acne will clear once the skin adjust to the new hormanal levels in the body.

Till then you need to take care of the skin. If the acne is infected then antibiotic cream like 1% clindamycin cream will be helpful. Preparations are available even with combination of antibiotic with adapalene 0.1% which will help in treating infected acne and prevention of further occurrence. If not infected only adapalene 0.1% will help.

Along with this daily 5 to 6 times washing of face with cold water using m8ld soap or medicated soap with glycolic acid or sulphonated surfactant blend soap will help.

Avoid direct sunlight and dusty exposure.

I hope this information helps you. Feel free to ask for any further queries. I will be glad to answer them.

Wish you good health and faster recovery.
Regards

Dr.....I must laugh at your recommendations....I live in the desert of SW Arizona!
All we have is dust and very high temps, 359 days of direct sunlight a year! Today
I believe temp about 112 and I must go out.
I will most certainly try the antibiotic cream. I don't understand how any person could wash their face 5-6 times a day. Impossible and when the break out is bad,
Must wear much make up to cover if I have to go out for Dr. appt. Would you recommend any type of natural hormone therapy? Thank you

Brief Answer:
Wash.Adapalene, benzoyl peroxide.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I can understand your problem lot better now. The external factors are the main cause for your acne. Try to avoid those mentioned factors as much as you can. In acne the opening of the glands can be blocked to increase the secretions build up with in without being secreting out. So I advised you to wash your face regularly and to avoid dust.

You can use adapalene 0.1% which will reduce secretion and also help in treating the problem. There are no specific hormone therapy for treating acne that has already occurred and before prescription of the hormonal treatment complete evaluation is required. You can use benzoyl peroxide cream to apply over the lesion at night. This may help along with adapalene in faster healing.

I hope this information helps you and answered your question. Feel free to ask for any further queries.

Wish you good health.
Regards
