Suggest Treatment For Post Nasal Drip And Vomiting

Question: Over the last few months I have experienced sudden involuntary gagging with vomiting and choking. It takes several minutes to begin breathing without gasping. It also has awoken me from sleep. The only thing I can identify is some post nasal drip may be occurring immediately before. I am a smoker so it is scary when it occurs.

Hi, thanks for your query . In my opinion, you might be having chronic allergic sinusitis causing post nasal drip which may initiate gag reflex and vomiting. Vomiting may cause laryngeal muscle spam which may cause breathing difficulty. This need clinically evaluation ,investigation such as diagnostic nasal endoscopy and ct scan and treatment accordingly. ... Empirically you can take anti histamine + decongestant tablet twice daily for 2 weeks. Steam inhalation daily thrice may be helpful. Nasal saline douching to clear the sinuses . Breathing exercises will help to ventilate the sinuses. If symptoms persists, then please consult with your doctor and get evaluated. Hope my answers have helped you. Thanks.

How can I tell if I aspirated something into my lungs after tonight's episode? I contine to have some coughing with some chest and shoulder soreness .
