Question: Hi, My wife had pregnant, age 25 years, now she is in 8th month, last menstruation period 26/2/2014. today we took a growth scan. in which they told about the kidney of child has little problem. they mentioned poly cytic kidney measures (0.69 cm)... later they confirmed with scan doctor and told its PVC. so it will be problem only if greater than
1 cm.. so they finally said its normal.. so please check the boelw report and give your advice about the kidney and everything from this report.

Brief Answer:
serial 2 weekly ultrasound follow up required..

Detailed Answer:
hello,
thanks for contacting health care magic.

At 32 weeks and 1 day of pregnancy the growth of the fetus is corresponding to 32weeks +3 days ultrasonologically indicates normal growth of the baby.

Secondly the measurement 0.69 cm or 6.9mm is the pelvicalyceal diameter of the right kidney which is dilated recording, yes but within limits. the upper limit which can warrant loss of kidney function in fetus is 10mm. So it is wise to follow up the diameter every 2 weeks with an obstetrics ultrasound to monitor the dilatation.
It usually resolves by the end of 37 weeks or remain stable. if the other kidney is normal then unlikely that the diameter of pelvi-calycx would increase further.

aim is to monitor the same by ultrasound till delivery as at this stage intrauterine fetal surgery is not recommended nd it is not free of its own risks, so best is to observe.
If at all , the diameter increases to or above by 37 weeks then induction of labour can be planned at 38 weeks and after delivery fetal surgery can be performed.

So at this stage , just stay informed and follow up with 2 weekly ultrasound. dont worry it will not harm baby's growth as other kidney is normal.
The S/D ratio is also normal and there is no growth retardation in the baby.
So rest assured, its progressing as a normal pregnancy.

Brief Answer:
dont be alarmed, its curable

Detailed Answer:
thanks for the follow up.

yes it is normal at present and the dilatation has not reached the critical limit. so just observation is required.

also after delivery, this may resolve completely and the child can lead a normal life.
but do follow up 2 weekly with an ultrasound ( obsterics scan ) to monitor the dilatation of pelvi-calyx.
