Suggest Treatment For Presence Of Stones In Small Intestine Indicate?
Please give additional information and post reports of investigations
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.
To recapitulate: Male/72 - GB removed - 7 weeks back - small stones block common bile duct - wants to know why and how...
It is not uncommon to have found stones in the common bile duct after gall bladder surgery for the following reasons:
- They could have been primarily present but missed as many are not seen on ultrasound nor is the common bile duct dilated to raise the suspicion.
- If the gall bladder contained very small stone some may passed through the cystic duct to common bile duct before surgery or during surgical handling.
But it is impossible to know what was the reason in your case:
Please give any additional details and post the reports of ultrasonography and Liver function tests - particularly Alkaline phosphatase and GGT.
