Suggest Treatment For Pseudofolliculitis Barbae

Question: I have been dealing with pseudofolliculitis Barbae for almost 6 months and nothing seems to be effective even medicine prescribed by my dermatologist. I've tried to let the hair grow but the hair seems to be stuck in the process of growing from the root and curling into my skin. I am XXXXXXX XXXXXXX so I'm sure that's why the hair is curling but it doesn't break through or if it does, it's painful and I pick at it to try and remove it. Any suggestions on what I can do to help this unattractive painful issue that I am having With my skin, face and facial hair?

Pseudofolliculitis barbae occurs when:
* extrafollicular penetration occurs when a curly hair reenters the skin, or
* transfollicular penetration occurs when the sharp tip of a growing hair pierces the follicle wall.

Your XXXXXXX XXXXXXX descent explains the curl of your hair and therefore it might not be a good idea for you to shave. Possible solutions for you could be:
* Chemical depilatories- Barium sulfide powder depilatories or Calcium thioglycolate preparations can be used.
* Topical medications- Topically applied tretinoin (Retin-A) may alleviate hyperkeratosis. Mild topical corticosteroid creams reduce inflammation of papular lesions.
