Suggest Treatment For Psoriatic Arthritis, Osteonecrosis, Pressure And Mild Pain In Mid-spine

default
Posted on Mon, 31 Aug 2015
Question: I woke up yesterday with some pressure and mild pain in my mid-spine... I have psoriatic arthritis and osteonecrosis. This morning the pain had moved from mid-spine to an area the size of a baseball in the middle of my left side of my back four to five inches above my waist. It hurts to breathe and it hurts to move, but I am not having trouble breathing. It is a searing, stabbing kind of pain when I breathe and/or move, especially to raise or lower my body from sitting to standing or vice versa. It feels like muscle strain but the pain is intense... I have a high pain threshold and deal with my two diagnoses without pain medication, but this actually makes me cry out at the intensity.

Brief Answer:
Difficulty in breathing and pain can be due to thoracic nerve involvement

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have studied your case.

Difficulty in breathing and pain can be due to thoracic nerve involvement.
You may need investigate like MRI spine, EMG-NCV [nerve conduction study].
I will advise to consult orthopaedic surgeon for clinical examination and further investigation.

Due to compression of spinal nerve root there can be pain in your back and waist.

For these symptoms analgesic and neurotropic medication like pregabalin can be started consulting your doctor.
Till time, avoid lifting weights, Sit with support to back. You can consult physiotherapist for help.
Physiotherapy like Tens and interferential therapy will give quick relief.
I will advise to check your vit B12 and vit D3 level.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.
