Suggest Treatment For Psoriatic Arthritis
Question: I have psoriatic arthritis and have been exposed to influenza A. I take Humira and prednisone. Can I get a flu shot and take Tamiflu at the same time?
Brief Answer:
You'd better not
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
if you've been exposed to a confirmed case of influenza then post-exposure chemoprophylaxis is indicated. Tamiflu can be used for 10 days at a dose of 75mg (once a day). Concurrent administration of the vaccine is not recommended. You'd better take the chemoprophylaxis and if you don't get sick, you can receive vaccination later.
Let me only add that chemoprophylaxis is useful when started in less than 48 hours after exposure. The sooner the better.
I hope I've helped!
If you'd like further clarifications, please let me know.
Kind Regards!
