Brief Answer:
can persist for a prolonged period of time

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Injury to the muscles can result in pain that can, in some persons, last from days to weeks.
The length of the time the discomfort is present would depend on the extent of the injury.

Pain would occur with movements that require the use or strain of the muscles involved in the injury

The main aspect of treatment would be: (1) rest of the injured area whenever possible

This would mean restriction of any movement that is aggravating the area

(2)If it is a recent injury then using ice compresses would also help

After the first few days, warm compresses are normally recommended to help relax the muscles

(3)if the area is swollen then elevation and a compression bandage would also be advised

(4)anti inflammatory pain killers, these would help to reduce the pain and also reduce the inflammation in the area that would have occurred as a result of the trauma

Eg ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions

Brief Answer:
if pain worsening then should see your doctor

Detailed Answer:
HI

If the pain is getting worse then you should see your doctor.

The ankle brace would only be necessary if movement of the ankle itself is causing pain, it would reduce movements/stabilise at this joint.

If the pain is above the ankle and mainly in the calf, it would not help. The boot would again if pain mainly located at ankle
