Posted on Thu, 19 Mar 2015
Question: Rash appearing near corners of mouth of 25 year old woman. Occasionally accompanied by a low grade burning sensation. After initial onset notice some occasional dryness and flakiness. See photos. Have experienced 2 bouts of this. One presently, and one about 9 months ago. First bout lasted almost a month. Do you have any idea of what this could be? No health problems. Live in moderate climate. Physically very active. Thank you!

Brief Answer:
I suggest a possibility of Seborrheic dermatitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I have reviewed the Images. I can dry red flaky skin at the angles of mouth.

This is seborrheic dermatitis.

She may try an OTC Topical steroid e.g Cortisone cream, twice daily for a few days.
This should improve it.

Regards
Take care
