Suggest Treatment For Rectal Swelling After Hemorrhoidectomy
White discharge can be pus,Indicative of infection at site of surgery.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for choosing HealthcareMagic for your query,
Firstly, pus/mucus(white discharge) can be suggestive of ongoing infection at surgical site and should not be neglected.
The swollen area is not a new hemorhoid but is most likely a surgical skin tag(fibro epithelial tisue) and will wither away in few weeks by itself.Don't freakout it's normal.
Excruciating external pain in the area is either due to surgical muscle reflexes or ongoing infection. It its due to inflammation of muscles it will remain there for 3-4 weeks,Ask you gastroenterologist to prescribe you with anti infammatory like Diclofenac in combination of Serratiopeptidase for few days(just taking ibuprofen will not do),until the muscles in anorectal starts to relax and comes back to normal.Surgical excision of Hemorrhoids has caused inflammation at the site of surgery hence anti inflammatory in combination with vitamin C and wound healers like chymotrypsin and trypsin should be given for 4-5 days.
As there is pus formation(white dischage) a culture and microscopy should be done and if required supportive therapy with antibiotic can be started for a week.
After hemorrhoidectomy the area of rectum is left exposed so as a natural physiological phenomenon fibro epithelial tissue starts covering up the exposed area(referred to you as new hemorrhoid).Don't worry its natural and will settle down soon. However immediate cultures of white discharge should be done to rule out the possibility of infection at surgical site.
Tke metamucil daily along with laxative like lactulose to allow stools to pass with minimal straining for few weeks. This will help in early recovery and healing of surgical site.
Advice
Pus culture and microscopy to be done as soon as possible.
