Consideration
Detailed Answer:
thank you for sending the question.
I am sorry to hear that you have developed another deep vein thrombosis. At this time it is important for your doctor to try to examine why you had to repeat thrombosis. This could be due to some type of inherited predisposition or it is reasonable if your doctor to scan your chest abdomen and pelvis to see if there something else going on.
I understand that you prefer to avoid Coumadin.there are multiple therapeutic alternatives including Xarelto which is a medication that you can take once daily. It does not require continuous monitoring.
I think the most important thing again is for your doctor to try to find out why you develop a repeat thrombosis. In the meantime it is important for you to remain on therapeutic anticoagulation as well.
Sincerely,
Dr. Galamaga

The doctor currently has me taking aspirin daily.
The only pain I have remaining in my leg is the bottom of my foot near the arch. It is very painful if I step down. There could be some clotting within my calf that was not picked up in the ultrasound. Should I request to see a vascular specialist?
Followup
Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
A referral to a vascular surgeon is reasonable since you are still having these symptoms. This specialist may have some additional considerations regarding possible diagnostic testing which may be of some help.
Sincerely,
Dr. Galamaga
