I am just concern of my mom's red patches on her lower legs. it started as 1 red patch few months ago, and now started to spread. according to her, it is not itchy but when she touch it, she feels like it is underneath her skin. I am so sorry to hear about the red patches that you have reported. I have looked at the picture and this is suggestive of ecchymosis. This bleeding into the layers of skin just underneath the surface. This would initially be red and gradually change through blue/dark/brown, etc. before finally being reabsorbed. This raises the concern of easy bruising.
To address this you mum would need a full consultation and examination to establish the cause of this easy bruising and address it. Some common causes include aging, steroid use, blood thinners collagen diseases and several other conditions. This is why a detailed evaluation to establish the cause and address it is very necessary.
