Suggest Treatment For Red Spots On Neck, Legs And Torso

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Jul 2015
Question: I have pencil erasure sized red spots, they have appeared on my neck, legs, and torso. I have also noticed that they appear after eating blackberries, or raspberries,..the spots are not itchy, and if scratched, they have a scaly skin breakup, but remain red. I thought maybe a fungus ? , but a dermatologist took a skin tissue sample, including a spot, and it came back simply non-fungal.

Brief Answer:
food allergy

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
If the spots are not fungal then the most likely options are food allergies or eczema. If it is food allergies and in your case it sounds like it could be a reaction to certain berries then the best thing to do is avoid the food causing the reaction. If it is eczema, then there is no cure but steroid creams like hydrocortisone can help lessen the areas and any associated itching.
If the problem persists then your dermatologist may need to do another biopsy and send it for pathology not fungal culture.
Please let me know if you have further questions.
