Suggest Treatment For Redness And Burning Feeling On Penis Head

default
Posted on Mon, 1 Jun 2015
Question: I am currently being treated for a UTI or kidney infection. A couple of days ago I discovered a different king of burning on the head of my uncircumcised penis. I pull back the foreskin and there is a red strip down the middle of the head. I always use toilet paper when I finish using the bathroom to make sure there are no dribbles. Several times when I have done this, there has been a little bit of blood

Brief Answer:
Most of your symptoms can still be related to a UTI or kidney infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Burning sensation along with a UTI or kidney infection can be localised anywhere around the penis head, shaft or lower body; I understand you may have experienced something different but as long as it was a burning sensation it can be related to either a UTI or kidney infection.

As for the blood in your urine or expelled from your penis, this is also common with UTIs, bladder infections, kidney infections and kidney stones. As an infection has been confirmed with the help of a urine analysis and/or urine culture and sensitivity investigations; I would also recommend the following investigations:

+ Ultrasound examination of the abdomen and pelvis
+ Ultrasound KUB (kidney, ureter, and bladder)
+ STD-panel

These investigations will help rule out other possible conditions like kidney stones, hernias, and other infections (e.g. sexually transmitted infections). Once these are ruled out, we can assume the new presentation you are experiencing is purely related to the UTI or kidney infections.

I hope you find my response both helpful and informative. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.

Is there anything I can put on the place to help it heal and not burn so much?

Brief Answer:
A few suggestions provided sir

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again sir.

The burning sensation is going to be present as long as the infection prevails, so treating the symptom usually does not help unless we accurately and effectively treat the infection.

But here are a few tips that can help sir:

+Take lukewarm water sitz baths with epsom salt as frequently as possible
+Use an anti-fungal cream on the region (e.g. clotrimazole or miconazole) directly on the region after being washed and dried (2-3 times a day)
+Do not keep the region wet at any times, if you sweat then please change your inner wear at the earliest
+Keep the region dry and clean
+Use mild NSAIDs (e.g. ibuprofen)
+Discuss with your doctor about the diagnosis, making sure it is accurate and correct. Because if the diagnosis is incorrect, your symptoms shall continue to persist

I hope this helps sir. Please do not hesitate to write back to me, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
