Brief Answer:
Considerations

Detailed Answer:
hello and thank you for sending the question.

I am sorry to hear that you're dealing with a significant amount of pain. For the pain you could try taking some ibuprofen 400 to 600 mg every eight hours as needed.

For the swelling it would be reasonable to soak your finger in some warm water for 15 to 20 minutes to to three times per day.

If however you notice a significant redness and swelling tracking towards your hand or up your arm then you would want to contact your doctor soon as possible. In that case you would likely need some type of antibiotic.

if you develop any fevers or chills you would also want to contact your doctor for a consultation and physical examination.

Again you could try some ibuprofen and warm soaks for the next 24 hours or so. If your symptoms are not any better or symptoms are worse after that time then you should certainly contact your vehicle physician for follow up or report your local urgent care center or emergency department for evaluation.

sincerely,

Dr. Galamaga
