Suggest Treatment For Sciatic Pain

Question: Yes, thank you. A couple of months before my surgery- total abdominal hysterectomy, with ovaries & tubes removed- I had sciatica in my left leg. Of course, with post-op meds it seemed to go away, but I stopped taking meds just before the 3 wk. post-op point, & then it was only one Ibuprofen a day, if that. So of course, the sciatica is back again & especially in the mornings, it bothers me more than the abdominal pain.
I've mentioned it to my OB/GYN, but of course, this is not his specialty & I've had basically no recommendation. Should I consider a physiotherapist at this point?

I want to know little detail about your illness
Detailed Answer:
Hello madam,
I have read your case. Before I advice you about physiotherapy, I want to know little detail about your pain.
1. Can you describe your pain, duration, progression, how much severe , is it radiating in foot?
2. Have you done MRI, if yes then send me the report.
3. What medication you were taking for it in past?
Please send me answers of these questions. I will try my best to help you. Thanks.

The pain is quite severe when I first get up, almost to the point of limping. It burns, mostly in the thigh & calf, occasionally a strong ache. Right now, three hours after getting up this morning, it is much less bothersome; a slight ache in the back of my thigh but it feels a bit tingly in my left foot.
No MRI for this at all. Only a pelvic MRI in late XXXXXXX 2014 because of the uterine fibroid mass.
I was not, in fact, taking medication for the sciatica.
Thank you for taking the time, Doctor.

Brief Answer:
You need a MRI
Detailed Answer:
Hello mam,
A MRI investigation is must for you. Without MRI, we are not sure about your disease. Though your symptoms suggest It is nerve compression but what is the cause (Disc prolapse / tumour of spinal canal/ Bony pressure) of that can be confirmed by MRI only. So I would suggest you to get it as early as possible.
MRI will also tell us about severity of nerve compression . According to that we can plan whether you will need physiotherapy or any surgery. Without knowing this physiotherapy can be dangerous.
Till you get your MRI, you can take Pregabalin and Methyocobal tablet after discussing with your doctor. This will give you good pain relief.
Let me know if you want to ask any other questions. Thanks and take care.
