Suggest Treatment For Sebhorreic Dermatitis On Face And Redness On Foreskin
Question: Hi,
I recently went to a dermatologist for what is apparently sebhorreic dermatitis on my face and redness on my foreskin (which is apparently also sebhorreic dermatitis). She prescribed econazole 1% cream and desonide .05% cream to be used on my face twice daily for 2 weeks and on my foreskin twice daily for 1 week, but I completely forgot to ask her about my red scrotum. It started around the same time as the sebhorreic dermatitis so I'm wondering if it is safe to use those two creams on the scrotum for a week? Its not a huge issue because there is no itching or pain except for embarrassing excessive redness and I know that some steroid creams and antifungals can have side effects - especially on think skin like the scrotum or genitals - so I just want to check to see if it would be ok to use them on my scrotum (and if it is even possible for sebhorreic dermatitis to cause red scrotum).
Thank you.

Hi,
Could this be sebhorreic dermatitis, balanitis or could it be steroid damage? I used hydrocortisone 1% 1-2 times a day for 4 days on the advice of another dermatologist before I went to this one and I am afraid it might have caused some damage unless this is something else. I'm pretty sure the red spots (1st picture) were not there before today and I just used my first application of desonide and econazole today. My glans is also sensitive and it looks blotchy especially after I have masturbated. I'm just worried about steroid damage because some of it can be permanent or take a long time to heal I hear.
Thanks for the help.

Brief Answer:
fungal infection

Hello
Thanks for the follow up.
Can you please upload the photograph again.
I could not find any attachment.
There is an option to upload reports on right side of query page.
Please utilise it.
It is unlikely to be steroid damage. Steroid damage happens when super potent steroid like Clobetasol is used for months. And appearance of new blotches is suggestive of fungal infection. It takes time to settle down.
Though fungal infection is my likely possibility based on your description, I wish to look at pictures of the lesion before submitting my final reply.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.

One more question (not sure if a dermatologist is the one to ask this though): I have an occasional (light) pain in the tip of the urethra whenever I go to the bathroom and soreness that comes and goes, could this be caused by the dermatitis or is it something else?
Brief Answer:
Get urine culture
