Suggest Treatment For Seborrheic Keratosis Around The Right Nipple

default
Posted on Mon, 28 Aug 2017
Question: Greetings. Recently I had a case of seborrhaic keratosis around my right nipple, which the dermatologist sprayed nitrogen twice and evidently the keratosis has fallen off though with a bit of reddish discoloration. He also sprayed on a couple of spots on my left nipple once. However, now on that left nipple I find some small reddish spots slightly ABOVE the nipple that burn slightly. Is this a new outbreak of keratosis on this other nipple, some kind of rash, or pimples, or something else? Please see attached photo, on top of nipple. On the sides is where he sprayed before. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
A rash, probably from irritation/reaction from liquid nitrogen!

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for asking,

I have reviewed the attached image. This is a rash from irritation probably caused by the application of liquid nitrogen. Generally, Liquid nitrogen works by destroying the cells, however, in this case, it inadvertently touched a healthy area. This is the likely reason for the reaction.

Please cleanse regularly with soap and clean water. Apply some soothing lotion like Aloe-vera over the area. Keep the area airy, dry and avoid excess humidity. It will eventually heal and color would be regained after some weeks.

I hope this guides and helps. I wish you well.

Feel free to follow up with me for more information and clarifications if need be.

Thank you kindly, Dr. Ditah. The nitrogen was only sprayed on a couple of small spots, whereas on the other nipple he had to do about half the nipple, but I have not had any irritation on that one. In this case of the left nipple I was just concerned because it felt sensitive like a pimple or two, but has not developed into anything. I guess I was just concerned that it was spreading, but apparently my left nipple reacted to the nitrogen differently than the other nipple that had more keratosis encrustation?

Brief Answer:
More keratosis=more protection!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

The nipple with more keratosis obviously offered more protection to the skin. Do observe for now and follow the recommendations. We will see how it progresses.

I wish you well. I'm always available to address any worries that you may have.
