Brief Answer:
It will be good to take her to hospital and get evaluated for pancreatitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. Pancreatitis is an inflammation of the pancreas which is an organ located in the upper abdomen adjacent to the stomach.

2. Pancreatitis is either acute, chronic or acute on chronic. If the doctor has examined her an proposed a clinical diagnosis of pancreatitis then she should get evaluated in detail at your local hospital.

3. In pancreatitis, patients might experience severe pain which does not respond to regular pain relief medicines. Confirmation is by doing pancreas enzyme analysis and ultrasound scan or CT scan abdomen. Therefore it is important to do the laboratory diagnosis to confirm pancreatitis.

4. People with pancreatitis might have to be on a low fat diet for a long time. This is because of difficulty in digesting fats and recurrent symptoms. If pancreatitis is confirmed then she might have to follow dietary changes.

5. In conclusion, she must be evaluated in detail by laboratory testing and ultrasound scan or CT scan to know the condition of pancreas and confirming it. In most cases pancreatitis is not a fatal disease but causes a lot of pain and discomfort. Taking medicines and following dietary instructions help patients lead a normal life. Advil is ibuprofen and taking it occasionally for severe pain is allowed but please avoid it on a regular basis.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
