You would benefit from hormonal treatment for your endometriosis
Detailed Answer:
Hello, and I hope I can help you today.
Endometriosis is a chronic, lifelong condition that will continue to cause problems until you go through menopause. If you have a condition called adenomyosis in your uterus (it is endometriosis within the uterine muscle, diagnosed by MRI or ultrasound) that will cause you also to have heavy periods as well as severe pelvic pain, especially if you have cysts.
I suggest you consult with a GYN specialist and then begin treatment with medication to make your period temporarily stop. There are a few different types of medication to do this- the most effective is called Lupron- it creates a temporary menopause that stops you from bleeding both from the vagina and from your endometriosis. It also decreases your chance of the cysts continuing to enlarge. Becasue you have had so many previous surgeries, I would only have surgery if you were prepared to have your uterus and ovaries removed, which would be the only way to cure your condition before your natural menopause.
In the short term, if you are bleeding heavily enough that you are soaking more than a pad an hour, or have any dizziness or chest pain, you should go to an emergency room for evaluation.
I know this is a lot of information, and I would be free to discuss this further if you would like. I hope I was able to adequately answer your question today and that my advice was helpful.
Best wishes,
Dr. Brown
