Suggest Treatment For Severe Arthritis And Pain In The Neck

Question: Four years ago I was diagonosed with an overactive thyroid. This was brought under control with medication. have since had cancer of the vulva, had two ops for that and recently had ultra sounds and ct scans of my neck for sore neck on the left side and pain travelling down my left arm. These showed severe arthritis in my neck but also picked up a lump on my thyroid. I do suffer from anxiety but for months I have been over anxious as I was when my thyroid was acting up. Could this lump being causing the anxiety. I am booked in for nuclear medicine-thyroid scan and thyroid ultra sound on the 25th of this month
Brief Answer:
Yes, an over active thyroid may be the cause of anxiety.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Sorry to learn about your bothersome symptoms.
Once you are diagnosed with a thyroid nodule you should check the thyroid hormones to rule out an over active thyroid.
If the nodule produces too much hormones than it may cause anxiety, palpitations, weight loss, sweating etc, symptoms that you propably has experienced 4 years ago.
A hormonal profile ( TSH, Ft4 and Ft3) should be the first to check.
If hyperthyroidism or over active thyroid is confirmed than you should restart the treatment with oral medications.
It will be a pleasure to answer further queries.
Kind Regards,
