Question: I have severe arthritis in my left knee. Blood sugar normally around 130 as I am a diabetic on tablets like Janomet 50/500(1) Pioz MFG2(1) after breakfast and Glycinorm M80 after lunch and dinner. Age 62 weight 78kg. I exercise regularly at gym and also play badminton. Due to this pain in the knee increases and every month or so I take wysolane 10 mg 3 for 3 days 2'for 3 days and 1 for 3 days. I just saw blood sugar level fasting 173 yesterday and 164 today. Is there an alternate for wysolane or what should I do? Thanks for your help

Brief Answer:
Alernative options to wysolone below

Detailed Answer:
Dear Patient,

alternatives to wysolone which will not affect the blood sugar Levels as much are ibuprofene, arcoxia or local cortisone shots directly into the knee instead of taking the prednisolone (wysolone) systemically.

Please discuss these options with your local gp or orthopedist,

best regards

Dear Dr. Seckendorff
Thanks for your answer. For pain, I take Flexon BD. I know ibuprofene is a pain killer, what is arcoxia? local cortisone into the joint will be difficult. My right knee has been totally replaced 7 years ago and perfectly all right. Do you think I should have a TKR of the left too? Thanks

Brief Answer:
Arcoxia is antiinflamatory and pain medication

Detailed Answer:
Dear patient

Arcoxia is antiinflamatory and pain medication similar to ibuprofen with less side effects regarding stomach affection compared to ibuprofene.

If you will profit from a tkr of the left knee will be possible to know after mri and orthopedic evaluation, this can't be decided online,

best regards
